I check my blog stats maybe once an hour during the day. Isn’t it pathetic to constantly check whether the blogosphere is paying any attention to you? :) In my defense, I do work at home and staring at the same screens can get monotonous. So it does give me a little break.

Over the last week my traffic has increased due to searches for shirataki “miracle noodles”. Guess everyone’s dieting right now and this is the new fad. These curiously indestructable noodles are quite amazing. I’m a big fan of the Hungry Girl alfredo and tuna noodle casserole recipes.

I’m going to find out they’re made of people, aren’t I?

I’ve never tried those noodles, but I’ve always been tempted. Are they any good?

Jeannie says:

I haven’t actually tried the Miracle ones, which are supposed to be zero calorie. I’ve tried the House shirataki ones which are made of yam and soy. They have to be rinsed when first taken out of the package and they’re chewier than pasta, but they do fill you up and give you the feel of eating pasta without the carbs.

The scary thing is you can cook them forever and they never plump up or fall apart like real noodles. Curiously disturbing.

It’s hilarious sometimes what searches draw people to your blog. Sometimes they make sense (like your noodles), and sometimes you really have to wonder what people in cyberspace are really up to….

I got this one once: “romance novel woman drowns goes back in time pirates.” It’s like a little story, right there.

Also, “Shapeshifting Squick.” If it squicks them, why are they looking for it?

But the most puzzling was “bowerbirds upper air.” Oh-kay!

Jeannie says:

The pirate search is great! I do searches like that too though. Maybe I read an excerpt somewhere, but I didn’t remember the title or the author.

Then of course there’s the search for my name or one of my titles. Doesn’t happen very often since I’m an unpublished nobody. But when it does, I do get quite giddy. :)
